Frequently Asked Questions

What is Team Fitness?

Team Fitness is a premier adult fitness company offering unique and challenging workouts in 1 hour classes in Los Altos and Menlo Park. With over 20 years and more than 300,000 member workout hours, Team Fitness has demonstrated impressive success in fitness workouts.

Do I need to be fit to participate?

No. It truly doesn’t matter if you haven’t worked out in a long time or if you’re a competitive athlete. We welcome and work with everyone. Each class is structured so that everyone will be challenged at their own level in a comfortable, non-intimidating team environment.

What do you do in a class?

Team Fitness has thousands of fitness and sports training elements which coaches combine to create 60-minute workouts. Power walking to sprints, jump ropes done in a way that no one ever misses, abs and core, stretching, speed, balance, catching, shooting, dribbling, and all kind of games and sports tie them all together. Beginning to well-conditioned athletes are all challenged at their next level as there are always multiple distances, speeds, weights, and intensities from which to choose.

Everyone starts together and finishes together, and all have a lot of fun working hard. Coaches are sensitive to individual needs and understand how to help push or throttle back according to their current fitness level, and are also great at teaching sports fundamentals and techniques to those who would like to learn something new or improve the skills they’re already good at.

What’s the atmosphere in a class?

Fun! Fun! Sweat! Fun! If you’re having fun and enjoying being with your teammates, you’ll come forever, but you don’t have to come forever to get in really good shape. Fun is a great motivator, and this is part of the design of our classes. Our members tell us they don’t realize how hard they’ve worked because they’re having such a good time.

What is the gender and age makeup of classes?

All classes are co-ed – about 50/50 men and women. The ages range from about 35 – 65 with a few younger and older.

What is the size of a class?

There are never more than 20-25 people working out on the floor and we prefer fewer. We are always looking to maximize relationship and team dynamics. When a class is full, we close it and put interested people on a waiting list.

What are the class times?

Check the Schedule page for classes in Menlo Park and Los Altos.

What level of commitment is required?

While we do not have contracts to lock anyone “in,” we do ask that you make an honest commitment to yourself and to the team to attend a minimum of three days a week. We fully recognize that everyone will be out because of sickness, business, vacation, or unexpected life situations from time to time, but members who have done best were those who kept their commitment.

It doesn’t take long for good fitness practices to develop, so if you’ve been disappointed at achieving success in other programs, you will find Team Fitness to be a breath of fresh air.

How much does it cost?

Check out our Program page for the latest information. No initiation, no contracts, no other fees. Based on 3 days per week. As conditioning and your time permits, you are welcome to attend up to 6 days per week at no additional cost.

What happens when I travel or am out for an extended period of time?

We realize that life happens, so once a year you may “freeze” your membership if you’re out for any reason for more than three weeks. If you are out for less than three weeks, please feel to attend extra classes before and/or after your absence to get your “make-ups” in.

Team Fitness also provides a Travel Program you can use while you are gone which is designed to give you a 15-30 minute workout to use right at the foot of your bed if no other fitness options are available. Just borrow a jump rope from class, throw it in your suitcase, and we’ll email you the program.

What do I wear?

T-shirts, shorts, a good pair of cross training or running shoes, and sweats or a jacket depending on the weather. Our workouts are inside and outside, depending on weather and if surfaces are dry.

Can I try a free class?

We offer a week of complimentary classes to try us out. Call us at (877) 751-5100 x3 or use our Contact Us form and one of our coaches will contact you. Please tell us the location, day and time you prefer to attend. We’ll be delighted to have you join us.

Are there any special offers or discounts?

Yes. Please check here for current costs and any special offers.

How do I sign up?

We offer a week of complimentary classes. After you attend a few, a coach will set up a 15-20 minute meeting to get to know you a little better and answer your questions. He’ll personally set you up.
